City Divers take Armada’s gold

Despite sending an injury weakened squad to the Brewin Dolphin Armada Cup in Plymouth at the weekend, the City of Sheffield Diving Club returned with 4 gold medals.

In the girls 11 and under competitions, Millie Hafferty and Channein Lancaster each took gold medals. Millie triumphed on the 1 metre springboard with Channein taking silver. Millie then won silver on the 3 metre springboard with Channein in 6th but in the platform competition Channein came out on top with Millie taking bronze.

Catriona Fraser dominated the girls 12/13 platform competition, winning by 15 points; Abbey Green came 5th. Abbey also took 4th place in the 3 metre springboard competition.

Most of Sheffield’s senior female divers were not competing in Plymouth, but Clare Cryan took 6th place in the 16 years and over 1 metre springboard competition.

Ross Haslam continued his regular medal winning performances by taking gold in the 12/13 years 1 metre springboard competition and silver on platform. Brother Jack was also a double medallist, winning silver in the 14/15 years platform competition and bronze on 1 metre springboard.

Plymouth’s World Champion Tom Daley took part in his home town competition and was a triple gold medallist. Ashton Hall shared the podium with him twice, taking bronze in the 1 metre and 3 metre springboard events.

In the boys 11 years and under, Cameron Brooks-Clarke took creditable 6th places on the 1m and 3 metre springboards.
